When OKC goes out of their way to make a higher end knife, it shows.
The fit and finish of the knife is superb. The micarta handles and tang of the knife fit seamlessly. The edge bevel is straight and even. The knife came relatively sharp, not quite shaving sharp, but sharp enough to cut paper without any hang ups. After stroping the edge on leather and with compound the edge became sharp enough to cut hair. (I will probably rework the edge on some whetsones so I can get rid of the grind line).
It feathers well, tough enough with some reasonable batoning, and has a good enough profile to prepare food. Some of the more dense food may not cut as smooth throughout due to the stock thickness (apples, potatoes, etc). The initial cut is fine but then it wedges it apart. It slices through soft food withough hesitation.
It is a bit pricey, ($164 at the time of purchase) but I have an OKC blackbird made from the same steel (has just as good of fit and finish as the Tak MOD by the way), and I was more so after the steel than anything. I picked up the blackbird on sale at the time and I have been very impressed with that knife, so I knew the Tak MOD would be worth it.
Overall, I think the knife is fantastic. My only, issue is that is should come with a better sheath considering the price point; kydex or leather.
