The Snap-It Salt traces its history back to the original Snap-It design, which was a unique departure from Spyderco’s groundbreaking CLIPIT knives. Instead of a pocket clip, it featured a snap shackle attached to the pivot-pin end of the handle that allowed the user to clip the closed knife to a D-ring, carabiner, or similar platform to hang in a position where it was easily accessible. This unique innovation earned a U.S. utility patent and Blade magazine’s prestigious “Overall Knife of the Year” award in 1993.
Back by popular demand and now better than ever, the Snap-It Salt combines all the defining qualities of the original design with the 100% rustproof properties of H-1 steel. This amazing alloy uses nitrogen instead of carbon to create its steel-like properties, making it total invulnerable to corrosion. It is also a work-hardening steel that holds an excellent edge, yet is incredibly strong and flexible.
The Snap-It Salt features a broad, hollow-ground blade with an oversized Trademark Round Hole™ for exceptional leverage during right-handed one-hand openings. Available in either a Plain Edge or Spyder Edge format, it is paired with a high-visibility handle injection-molded from bright yellow fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). The handle houses a stout back lock mechanism that locks the blade securely open and textured black Kraton panels for a secure grip, even when wet. The knife’s steel-reinforced FRN shackle features a spring gate that, like the other components of its screw-together construction, is also 100% rustproof.
